If you are not a regular church-goer then what you need to know about First Baptist is that it is a very diverse gathering of people. There is no dress code. Some of our folks wear dresses or shirts and ties, but most dress casually. We are relaxed, and visitors often comment about the warm family type atmosphere that is present here. We have all different styles of music. There are both the older hymns and the more contemporary praise songs. We have a choir and a bell choir, but also a praise team with guitars, bass guitars, keyboards, drums, and hand drums. Kids are welcome in the service, and the cry of a baby is understood to be a sign of life and vitality. There are a lot of babies here, and a lot of little children as well. We have nursery and junior church services available for the little ones. Usually there is a children’s message as part of our service. Holy communion is celebrated regularly, and is an important part of our worship. The preaching is verse by verse through a particular book of the Bible. Though attendance varies up and down from week to week, there are roughly 240 people who regularly worship here. We also have wheelchair access to our building.
