Missions

Missions is not the ultimate goal of the church. worship is. Missions exists because worship doesn't. Worship is ultimate, not missions, because God is ultimate, not man. When this age is over, and the countless millions of the redeemed fall on their faces before the throne of God, missions will be no more. It is a temporary necessity. But worship abides forever.

Worship, therefore, is the fuel and goal of missions.

- John Piper, Let the Nations Be Glad.

Child Hope

Website

Supporting Jeremiah and Beth Pallangyo in their work with orphans in Naivasha, Kenya.

Childs Hope International is a non-profit 501(c)(3) Christian organization dedicated to funding impoverished street children and orphans in Naivasha, Kenya. The AIDS epidemic has taken the lives of many of these children's parents. Those that have living relatives often suffer abuse due to the prevalence of alcoholism in response to the tremendous pressures of daily life. Survival is a constant challenge. Without help, children face prostitution, slavery and gang life, as well as starvation.

The decision to support The Pallangyo's ministry to street children and orphans in Naivasha, Kenya was pivotal in determining the purpose and direction for Childs Hope International. Bishop Jeremiah Pallangyo visited the United States two years ago and brought to our attention the plight of the children in his town. It is a problem that exists throughout the world, which no single person or organization can solve. Childs Hope International was founded to join those, all over the world, working to bring relief to children who are suffering. It is our deepest hope that our work in Naivasha is the first of many future projects around the world.

Childs Hope International sends your donations to a Kenyan pastor and his wife, Bishop Jeremiah and Beth Pallangyo of Naivasha, to fund all that's necessary to give the children a safe home, education and the love they need to thrive. Common Grace

Community Connection - Bringing God’s Grace and the Community Together

Common Grace Core Values

Reconciliation – To bring churches, civic associations and other local institutions together.

Restoration – To meet the spiritual, economic, educational and vocational needs of the people and community.

Resources – Rather than competing, to pool local talents and resources to accomplish common goals.

Vision for 2009

Looking down the road to 2009, Common Grace will continue to grow relations with the Elementary School, the Parks and Recreation Department, and local theater groups. We plan for our Leadership Team to reflect more of the community with two residents who are not associated with River of Life Church. We will continue to pursue grant money to support job training programs, youth activities, renovations projects, and other community development initiatives.

Pray with us for God’s direction, provision and impact in Athens, Maine.

Partner with us by adding Common Grace to your church’s missions support.

Promote the idea of Community Development in your church.
