First Baptist Church
Pittsfield, Maine

If you are a regular church-goer some of the things that you might like to know are that we are evangelical, reformed, and strongly missional. We ordinarily practice expository preaching, and have a big focus on discipleship and growth in Christ. Our worship is blended worship, and our tradition is Baptist (our Baptist roots date back to 1823 in the Pittsfield area). There are believers from all different denominational backgrounds here, who have found the Christ-centered and cross- focused nature of our worship to be comfortable to them, although they are not from a Baptist background. We are committed to planting evangelical reformed churches in the state of Maine, and currently have one daughter church in Athens, Maine (River of Life).

Our pastors both come from reformed roots, and emphasize the historic Protestant understandings that salvation is by grace alone (sola gratia) from God’s end of things; by faith alone (sola fide) from our end of things; and guided by Scripture alone (sola scriptura) and not by the traditions and teaching of men. We subscribe to the historic confessions of the Church, including the Apostles, Nicene, Athanasian and Chalcedonian creeds. The Westminster Confession and shorter catechism as well as the 1689 Baptist Confession are fairly representative of our beliefs. You can download these by visiting the following website:
